Great Get Away

We took a roadtrip to St. George and Las Vegas over Valentines weekend. My friend Tamara and her son Ben came with us. Here are the kids chillin in the car on the way down. Isn't Ben so dang cute? What a long adventure~eating junk food~singing to Mama Mia~snapping photos of the many faces of Ben.The worst part was driving through a blizzard (that was scary). But we made and when we got there the kids loved the palm trees and of course know the meaning the trees have for me :)

I don't think the kids were expecting the traditional doorbell ditch with presents left on the doorstep~but traditions don't take vacation right? Glad I could surprise :)

After checking out the gifts and treats we got ready to head to Vegas. My children didn't remember "the strip" so I told them I would take them and check it out. It has been years since I was there~ alot has changed and a lot is the same. I was shocked by how much more crap is thrown out there as you walk down the street. I kept telling my kids..."don't look down" because there were tons of disgusting photos laying on the ground..in the middle of the day. We did visit the M&M store, walked down to Treasure Island, and had plenty of photo ops. You gotta love this guy in our picture~we asked his wife to take our picture and he jumped right in the photo next to Tamara and then asked his wife to take a picture with his camera of all of us!

Okay we are silly~ha ha~We took this picture and then the description beside was kinda fitting for both of us~ I am so grateful for Tamara's friendship!

Bonjour~Charissa's dream is to someday travel to Paris~she is learning a lot in her French class!

After taking the long walk down the strip we caught the bus back to the MGM~As soon as we got on the double decker bus the kids headed up the stairs and a couple young men jumped up and offered us their seats. It was so nice! They asked where we were from...probably thinking we were crazy to have our kids on the strip...and we looked at them and said in unison "Utah" ~it is so funny how you can always get the same reaction out of people..."oh Utah" (with a little chuckle) and then of course comes the "oh yeah-the Utah Jazz." The guys says "We're Laker fans" and luckily I was able to laugh and come back with "OHHH who won the game the other night?" Hee Hee We all laughed~It was funny! Tamara and I got to laughing thinking that he was probably wondering where "our" Husband was~especially with all those kids! He was a nice guy even when others around him were cussing he would yell out "children" respecting the fact that the kids were within ear shot~very cool!

That evening we were able to stay with the Jacks family! They were so gracious to let us stay with them! Aunt Mellissa took the girls to see Twilight and Uncle Ron stayed home with the boys. I wish I would have taken more pictures, especially of the boys! Mellissa was gracious enough to take family pictures for us! I can't wait to see her magic~

I am so grateful that my kids were able to spend time with their cousins~they are all so close in age and rarely see each other so this was a fun weekend~next time we need to stay longer!~

Happy Valentines Day

Love,
Grandpa

Each year my dad sends his daughters a bouquet of flowers. I remember the year the tradition started, and I got my flowers with a note attached reading "to my favorite daughter" and I thought oh how sweet!~of course I know better~he wrote the same thing on all of ours, but I still felt his love and sincerity. I have an amazing father!! This year he sent a rose to each of my girls as well as my bouquet! They were so surprised and happy to get flowers of their own!

Thank you and We love you Grandpa!!
